“The Wall” Interactive Roman Theatre Show

What must life have been like for a Roman Legionary serving in the North of England in the year 124AD? It would certainly not be made any better by having to venture North beyond the protection of the wall. Find out in 'The Wall' an interactive Roman theatre show.Join Gaius as he arrives fresh from Rome for his new posting at Hadrian's Wall. As the son of a Roman Senator he is quickly welcomed into the home of Marcus, the Commander of the fort, and his wife Claudia before being told of his mission to make peace with the barbarians in Scotland! We also meet Flora, a slave, and a couple of auxiliary soldiers in the Roman army before Gaius finally comes face to face with the barbarians. As well as being extremely funny the show is absolutely packed full of facts. Each character allows us to learn a little more about what life would have been like in Roman Britain. An interactive theatre in education piece that will involve the children in discussion with the actors to further their understanding and enjoyment of their Roman study. We stop the action at a couple of points in the story so that the actors can, out of character, sit with the children to discuss plot, character and curriculum points. It is a great way to further engage the children.
Here are some examples of the feedback we receive...
"The quality of Hobgoblin productions is always extremely high and we were not disappointed with 'The Wall'! It is very impressive how the team manages to convey so much information in such a humorous and engaging way. The format of the performance, interactions and workshops works very well as it helps to consolidate learning and extends the children's practice in drama. The team are 100% reliable, punctual and professional and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to another school." Vanessa Slade, St Anthony's RC Primary School"Wow - a feast for our eyes, ears and brains. Great idea to have the interim discussions to re-focus learning for everyone. Please come back again and again and again." Louisa Brown, Knightlow Primary School"Excellent production - very informative and entertaining for the children and also managed to be enjoyable for the adults. Managed to cover a lot of ground in a short time. One of the best we have had." Carole Winter, Loxwood Primary School
