Knights and Castles with Sir Roland De Preux

Learning about knights and castles and, of course, princesses is something that is taught throughout the real. It's always enjoyable especially if you can make it fun so that it seems all that silly fighting is just...well silly.
In the session:
Let Sir Roland explain the role of a knight in medieval England by showing Armour and clothing and weaponry. There's quite a bit of silliness involved but I find kids learn better when they are laughing at the silly knight. Everything is authentic (except the pink unicorn hobby horse!) and I only have items designed for children to hold. I teach the children the importance of being noticed on the field by the Queen by explaining the role of heraldry. With lots of bits to try on to explain their use and a knight selfie blank supplied for each child. This enables them to create their own coat of arms and create an in class display. I can supply princesses but I often find the girls like to do the knights too! Why not incorporate a dress up day also which is common when I attend schools.
